How our Tantric Breathwork supports Embodied Enlightenment

The Bindu Breath Awakening was created by our lead teacher Luna Agneya, and combines traditional Tantric yoga practices with modern breathwork. The method has various elements that are vital for spiritual seekers looking to transform, awaken and liberate themselves.

The path of Tantra Luna practices and shares aspects of emphasise Direct Realization teachings- where we explore how the path of spiritual awakening can actually be quite rapid when we recognise our true nature and then integrate it.

Here is an excerpt from our facilitator training manual for the Bindu Breath Awakening teacher training.

Direct realization teachings in Tantra refer to the methods and insights that lead practitioners to immediate and experiential knowledge of their true nature, the divine, or ultimate reality (paramarthika). Rather than relying on intellectual study, complex rituals, or gradual ascetic practices, these teachings emphasize direct, embodied experience of the sacred.

The Bindu Breath Awakening method has the potential to support this direct realisation of our students true nature, if we as the guide have had our own realisations.

Key Aspects of Direct Realization in Tantra:

Immediate Awakening to Divine Presence:

  • Direct realization teachings focus on the idea that spiritual awakening or enlightenment is not something distant or attainable only after years of practice. Instead, it is available in every moment, in the here and now.

  • The divine or the ultimate reality (Shiva/Shakti) is not separate from the individual or the material world. Direct realization is about recognizing that one is already one with the divine; it is a matter of perception and awareness rather than a distant goal.

  • Enlightenment/Awakening is not an intellectual understanding but a deep experiential shift in consciousness beyond what words can convey

We offer a taste of this through the guided meditations between the breath cycles during the process

    Non-duality:

    • A central theme in Tantric direct realization teachings is NonDuality. This principle asserts that there is no fundamental separation between the practitioner and the divine or between the self and the universe.

    • The separation between subject (the practitioner) and object (the world or the divine) is seen as an illusion (maya). Direct realization is the dissolution of this illusion, leading to the experience of oneness.

    • In Tantra, this non-dual awareness can be accessed through the body, emotions, sexuality, and daily life, not just through abstract meditation or renunciation.

We offer this insight through the philosophy, prompts and their embodied experience

    Embodied Realization:

    • Unlike many spiritual paths that emphasize transcendence of the body and the senses, Tantra teaches that direct realization happens through full engagement with the body and the world.

    • Practices such as breathwork (pranayama), energy work ( kundalini practices), visualization, and sacred sexuality are used to awaken the practitioner’s awareness to the divine in every cell of their being.

    • The body is considered a sacred vessel for enlightenment, and by attuning deeply to it, one can have direct experiences of higher consciousness.

We offer this through the movement of Kundalini in the process and their relationship to their body, sexuality and emotions as they explore the process

    Kundalini Awakening:

    • One of the primary methods for direct realization in Tantra is the awakening of kundalini, the dormant spiritual energy said to reside at the base of the spine.

    • Through specific practices like mantra repetition, visualization, meditation, and energy work, this energy is activated, rising through the central channel to awaken higher states of consciousness and direct experience of the divine.

    • Kundalini awakening is often accompanied by profound experiences of bliss, expanded awareness, and a deep sense of unity with all of existence, as well as often a physiological experience.

The Prana Ucchara practice in the process supports the movement and awakening of Kundalini energy

    Transmission (Shaktipat):

    • A teacher can support facilitating the student’s awakening. Through the transmission of energy through what is called Shaktipat.

    • This transmission bypasses the need for extensive theoretical study or preliminary practices and allows the student to have an immediate, direct experience of divine consciousness.

Our demos and our physical and energetic presence can support the practitioners to go deeper

Sacred Use of Desire and Emotions:

    • Direct realization in Tantra also involves embracing desire, emotions, and even pain as pathways to awakening. Rather than suppressing these aspects of life, they are harnessed as energy that can lead to transcendence.

    • Emotions like love, fear, anger, and desire are seen as manifestations of Shakti (divine energy), and by fully feeling and transmuting them, one can directly experience the flow of divine consciousness.

The way we offer emotional alchemy can support a new relationship for practitioners with their emotions

The method may seem simple enough, but it contains all the elements required for practitioners to have profound experiences of spiritual awakening. It bring together the Shakti elements of kundalini energy, sexuality and emotionality with the Shiva elements of inquiry and meditation.
